Animal husbandry and meat processing is an important segment of the agricultural market, with a significant impact on the economies of many countries, including Poland, where it accounts for 3.5% of GDP. The meat industry provides employment for hundreds of thousands of people, and meat as a food product provides vital vitamins and minerals.

Despite this, meat is not adequately celebrated in the global calendar. The POLISH MEAT Association is taking the initiative to establish a World Meat Day to highlight the importance of meat for health and the economy, and to improve its image in the eyes of consumers.
